Taos, NM — On Monday, May 4th, District Judge Jeffery Shannon granted a motion for pretrial detention filed by the Eighth Judicial District Attorney’s Office, ordering that Andrew M. Duran be held pending trial following his arrest after a police pursuit and collision with a Taos Police vehicle on Quesnel Street on April 21.

Raton, NM — On the afternoon of Wednesday, April 1, 2026, Defendant, Dustin Lee Pettit, was found guilty by a jury of his peers in District Court of two counts of Criminal Sexual Penetration of a Child Under the Age of thirteen and two counts of Criminal Sexual Contact of a Child Under the Age of thirteen. The three-day jury trial was presided over by District Judge Steven Romero in Raton, New Mexico.

The NDAA’s annual advocacy conference brings prosecutors from across the country to Capitol Hill to meet directly with their congressional delegations and address issues of critical importance to public safety and justice in their communities.

During the conference, attendees highlighted top national priorities for District Attorneys, including strengthening recruitment and retention of local prosecutors, securing sustainable funding for crime victims, advancing efforts to combat child exploitation, addressing the rise in organized retail crime, and confronting the ongoing opioid crisis.
